Why is it that in most retirement homes that there mostly whites?

are mostly whites who are in homes and as far as ethnic people, they don’t live there. Is it because that in ethnic familes, their family takes care of them, meaning that they want them to still live with the family and not in a retirement home? Leaving them isolated?

I am not trying to offend anyone here. I just wondered this.

I noticed that as well when my Nana was in a nursing home too. I think it’s because we (African Americans) tend to try and keep our loved ones at home with us and are their main caregiver. My Nana got to the point where she needed 24 hour care so we made the difficult decision to put her in a nursing home. It was only minutes from my Mom’s house and we’d visit her daily. My Mom would either dress her in the morning each day or get her ready for bed. “We” believe we’re letting our loved ones down if we send them off. Another reason I believe is cost. Those homes are expensive and some of us haven’t prepared for the future and if you put a loved one in one of the homes, they take their whole savings and monthly income.

I don’t want to ruffle any feathers but I noticed that other races didn’t visit their people much or even at all.
